Lycoming Football - Warriors held their own against Franklin & Marshall in annual scrimmage

Williamsport, PA - In 92 degree heat, the Lycoming Warriors battled for 30 minutes against Franklin & Marshall in their annual scrimmage. It is hard to make any assumptions in a scrimmage, but Lycoming gave up a field goal in and scored a touchdown in their "Overtime" drill. Then, Lycoming's first string offense and defense played two quarters of scoreless football.

Lycoming Football - It Was Good To Get Back On The Sideline

Head Coach Mike Clark giving instructions before some pad action against Ithaca, NY (John Green Photo)

I was lucky enough to visit David Person and Lycoming Football's preseason practice. Little did I know that the team was scrimmaging Ithaca College. I had my camera. I use scrimmages to get used to my camera settings and other issues like how far to zoom on certain shots. I love capturing some pre-pads headshots since you can't see who is really in there.

Lycoming Football - Some Of The Faces Carrying The Lycoming Football Legacy To Susquehanna

Some of the faces that will bring back a win that the experts believe is not probable.

Williamsport, PA - Saturday September 7th kicks off the 2019 version of Lycoming Football. Lycoming travels downstream to playing Susquehanna University for the 55th time. The Warriors have a legacy, a tradition and a winning program that will be tested again this year. The test is why we follow football and play football. My roots go back to 1973 when freshly out of the Air Force, Lycomings admissions had the confidence in me to do my best in school. They had faith that I would succeed and obtain my diploma in Accounting. It changed my life. Then I just could not stay away from Lycoming Football and have been follow in person, home and away games since 1996. I have seen many ups and down through those years. I have seen upsets and disappointments. This is football.

I use Google Photos for storing and distributing to family and friends of Lycoming Football. Well, Google also automatically generates slideshow movies with music. This is a sample of their work.

Lancaster, PA - Lycoming traveled to Franklin and Marshall again, this time in very nice weather for football. Franklin and Marshall has a beautiful campus and Lycoming seems to have some ties to the school. They are who we seem to scrimmage with in preseason. So I did make the trip which took a little over two hours. And after the day 608 photos, I processed 129 and put them into an album (Franklin & Marshall Scrimmage). PS: Oh, the lighting was not the best for photography due to the shadows from the press box covering the field.

Lycoming Football - On The Road To Susquehanna!

Defense Coming Together.

Williamsport, PA -  One of the biggest functions of preseason practice is going over the 100's of offensive plays, special team plays and defensive schemes. In a way, repetition builds muscle memory like a golfer tries to accomplish. Doing thing automatically, without much thought. I'm sure this is not the most exciting thing for the players, but must be done. If anything, they just can't wait to get to September 7th to put this stuff all into action.

Yesterday, I took many photos of this preseason session. You can look at all the Preseason Photos here!

Lycoming Football - On the Road at Ithaca

Ithaca, NY - I always love covering preseason activities for each Lycoming football season. Ithaca was a great trip because I usually go early and look for some interesting views of the area. So along with the 190 photos that I kept from the 850 photos shot, some are of the stops along the way. I hope you enjoy the interspersing of some of the areas visited.

Lycoming Football - The Faces of the 2019 Warriors

Williamsport, PA - The thing I love about following Lycoming Football (Home and Away since 1996) is the players. It isn't all football for me. I know those who strap on those cleats are also getting a great education from a well respected college. I know, because I am a 1977 accounting grad who's life was changed by Lycoming College. So after two days of photos, I have randomly picked some photos and tried to research some facts about each player and their schools if available.

So enjoy the ride men of Blue and Gold. Getting a great education and playing the game you love so much. It is one of the hardest thing to accomplish in my opinion. All the best!

Williamsport PA - Practice number three saw a lot more physical contact by the defense. I really believed that the players looked forward to more football practices. Also, the players started real early. After the 6:45 am wakeup and breakfast, the players reported to the stadium for tape and dress for a three hour practice.

New look, same expectations: Warriors chasing 15th championship in 2013

#3 Fr RB Colton Turns from Oxford, Pa. / Oxford HS
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – It’s been almost a decade since the expectation of the other coaches in the Middle Atlantic Conference were for the Lycoming College football team to end the season with a conference title. However, the Warriors are no stranger to high expectations. After all, a program with two appearances in the Stagg Bowl and 14 conference titles under its belt comes with them.

Add in one of the most talented returning groups in the past decade, complete with two returning players who have earned All-American honors in their career, three Preseason All-Americans and seven all-conference honorees, and a recruiting class 51 members strong complete with 12 all-state selections, and the Warriors are ready to chase down their 15th MAC title.
