Lycoming Football - Warriors held their own against Franklin & Marshall in annual scrimmage

Williamsport, PA - In 92 degree heat, the Lycoming Warriors battled for 30 minutes against Franklin & Marshall in their annual scrimmage. It is hard to make any assumptions in a scrimmage, but Lycoming gave up a field goal in and scored a touchdown in their "Overtime" drill. Then, Lycoming's first string offense and defense played two quarters of scoreless football.

Lycoming's defense was what I noticed the most as they would bend, but had the resolve to keep F&M out of their endzone. In fact, the half ended with F&M running out of time on the four yard line. It was fun to watch the defense stiffen each time F&M became a threat.

Offensively, starting QB Elijah Shemory mixed up the run and pass game, but never seemed to threaten F&M's goal line except on one series where they reached the 10 yard line. So it is early yet and both squads need to keep getting better and better before the Susquehanna game on September 4th.

I look at scrimmages as a tool to see where you are offensively, defensively and on special teams. I did not get a chance to talk to Head Coach Mike Clark, but I believe he would say he saw some good stuff and some areas that need much more improvement.

I am excited for the season opener at Selinsgrove, PA. How about you?
