Josh Klinefelter - After racking up his second career 200-yard game, senior running back Josh Kleinfelter(Bellwood, Pa./Bellwood-Antis) has become the first Lycoming College player to earn D3Football.com Team of the Week honors since punter Tim Eskridge ’06 earned mention during week eight of the 2005 season.

December 6, 2003 was a cold, snowy and sad day in the anneals of Lycoming Football. I was excited for the next playoff home game because of the talent we had at QB in Phil Mann and the All-American WR Ricky Lannetti. Lycoming also had a rugged defensive core who was coming of age. That defense held rival Susquehanna University scoreless with a 38–0 victory to make it to the NCAA Playoffs.

Lycoming then faced talented East Texas Baptist on November 29th and defeated them by a 13–7 in an overtime win to advance to the NCAA quarterfinals against Bridgewater (Va). That game was scheduled for December 6th. (Editor’s Note: Due to a heavy snowstorm on the evening of December 5th, that game was postponed until Sunday, December 7th). Read More ...

BOOK: Chapter 1, Section 1 - The Pursuit of Greatness - In the beginning

Draft: Please feel free to send any story to me for inclusion in the book at john.green@wolnews.com. I could use your help to make the book the best it could be.
Legendary Lycoming Football Head Coach Frank Girardi

BOOK: Chapter 1,  Section 1 - The Pursuit of Greatness - In the beginning

“Do not despise the bottom rungs in the ascent to greatness.”
- Publilius Syrus

~ ~ ~ ~

It was a cold, windy December day with the recent snow storm brushing patches of it’s vengeance into the grass at David Person Field. From the press box, the field looked like an iceskating rink sprinkled with patches of dirty green grass between sections of ice and snow. The chalk lines were faded and barely visible. The players showed every sign that an important Division III playoff game was about to be decided. The clock was in the closing minutes of the fourth quarter. The Bridgewater Eagles had the upper hand in the game so far, but the momentum was building as Lycoming College desperately executed its final drive of the game. The Warriors, behind 13-9 had one more shot to pull out a miracle win. Everyone knew they could do it since it was something they have managed to pulled off on several occasions over the years.

Book: The Pursuit of Greatness - Forward

Book: The Pursuit of Greatness - How Frank Girardi Built The Lycoming Football Legacy
By John Green

Forward
Greatness is an elusive partner as we travel through this winding road called life. If your life is anything close to the norm, you have experienced joy and sorrow, tears and laughter. You have walked stretches of your life when everything seemed as though it was a downhill stroll in the park — the sun at your back and the wind pushing you along with warm, gentle breezes. Then a driving storm comes along, the cold rain slashes into your eyes, and the wind cuts through you to the bone. No matter what that storm is, the happiness that once seemed so real has been tarnished by it. Some have learned to excel before, during and after that storm. And that is where the pursuit in this game of life comes in.

The Pursuit of Greatness - How Frank Girardi Built The Lycoming Football Legacy

By John Green
Williamsport, PA -  I have been working on a book for over a year about Lycoming Football. The draft version is entitled "The Pursuit of Greatness" which will highlight How Frank Girardi Built The Lycoming Football Legacy. It is one of the hardest ventures I have ever pursued. Since I am an accountant by trade and not known for my prose, it has been extremely difficult for me to write this book. I have still committed myself to finish this book and continue to preserver.
