Stevenson University football team picked 2nd in the Middle Atlantic Conference preseason poll


ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Stevenson University football team was picked second in the Middle Atlantic Conference preseason poll released Monday morning. The top three teams are separated by just three points, as Delaware Valley garnered five first place votes and earned 75 points. The Mustangs and Albright each earned 72 points, with Stevenson, the defending conference champion, picking up three first place votes, while the Lions had the other two first place nods.

ANNVILLE, PA – The Wilkes University football team has been picked to finish eighth in the annual Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Coaches' Poll released by the conference office Monday morning.

The Colonels were selected eighth out of the ten-team conference with 27 total points in the poll.

Delaware Valley University took the top spot in the poll with 75 points and five first place votes. Defending MAC champion Stevenson University and Albright College were tied for second with 72 points each. Stevenson garnered three first place votes while Albright finished with two first place tallies. Widener University finished fourth with 55 points followed by King's College in fifth with 47 points and Lycoming in sixth with 38 points. Lebanon Valley was chosen seventh with 33 points. FDU-Florham (19 pts.) and Misericordia (12 pts.) rounded out the poll in ninth and tenth place respectively.

ANNVILLE (PA) – The Delaware Valley University football team has been picked by the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) coaches as the favorite to win the 2017 conference championship. The preseason poll was released by the conference office on Monday.

The Aggies, coming off a 9-2 campaign (7-2 MAC) and their 13th trip to the postseason in the last 14 years, notched five first-place votes and a total of 75 points in this year’s poll. Defending MAC champion Stevenson University and postseason participant Albright College were just three points behind and tied for second. Stevenson received three first-place votes while Albright had the remaining two.

Northumberland County Commissioners Honor Legendary Lycoming Football Coach Frank Girardi

Sunbury, PA - According to the Daily Item, the commissioners presented a proclamation to retired football coach Frank Girardi.

Girardi, 76, a 36-year football coach from Lycoming College who will be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in December, coached hundreds of players from Northumberland County schools, including Schiccatano. His record was 257-97-4.

“He has helped and coached so many athletes in our area,” Schiccatano said. “We have kids from every high school who played for this coach.”

Girardi’s legacy is his players, he said.

Girardi said he will always have a special place in his heart for coal region athletes.

Lycoming Football - Warriors ninth in initial East Region rankings

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – After the first five-game winning streak for the Lycoming College football team since 1999, the team is ranked ninth in the initial NCAA East Region rankings, the NCAA regional rankings committees announced on Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 5.

The Warriors (6-2 overall, 5-2 Middle Atlantic Conference) have lost to two teams in the poll, which includes top-ranked Delaware Valley and third-ranked Widener. Hobart, the other undefeated team in the region is third, while St. John Fisher sits fourth ahead of Framingham State, St. Lawrence, MIT and Montclair State. Lycoming and Ithaca round out the poll.

Polls - Warriors enter D3football.com Top 25

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – 
After a dominating 42-13 win over Susquehanna in the first week of the 2014 campaign, the Lycoming College football team has entered the D3football.com Top 25, placing 23rd in the poll, the website announced on Monday morning, Sept. 8.

The Warriors (1-0 overall) have entered the top 25 for the second straight year, as they entered the poll at No. 24 after week five of the 2013 season. However, the team dropped a 14-7 decision to Lebanon Valley in week six and dropped from the poll.

The ranking of 23rd is the highest for the team since being ranked 22nd after the first week of the 2004 season.

Lycoming Warriors top MAC preseason coaches’ poll

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – For the second time this month, the Lycoming College football team was predicted by prognosticators to win its second straight Middle Atlantic Conference title, as the conference office announced the results of the MAC Coaches’ Preseason Poll on Friday, Aug. 14.

The Warriors, who also topped the preseason coaches’ poll in 2013, came in first in the poll with 77 points and five first-place votes, outpacing Delaware Valley, which finished with 68 points. Lebanon Valley, which shared the 2013 MAC title with Lycoming, took third with 65 points and four first-place votes. Widener, Albright and King’s made up the middle of the poll and Stevenson, Wilkes, Misericordia and FDU-Florham round it out.
