Polls - Warriors enter D3football.com Top 25

Top 25 D3 Poll after Week 1
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. –
After a dominating 42-13 win over Susquehanna in the first week of the 2014 campaign, the Lycoming College football team has entered the D3football.com Top 25, placing 23rd in the poll, the website announced on Monday morning, Sept. 8.

The Warriors (1-0 overall) have entered the top 25 for the second straight year, as they entered the poll at No. 24 after week five of the 2013 season. However, the team dropped a 14-7 decision to Lebanon Valley in week six and dropped from the poll.

The ranking of 23rd is the highest for the team since being ranked 22nd after the first week of the 2004 season.

Lycoming has earned votes in the D3football.com poll in each of the six seasons under the guidance of head coach Mike Clark. The Warriors picked up votes in four weeks during the 2012 season and during three weeks in 2011. The 2010 squad earned a vote after Week 7 and the 2009 team earned votes in the preseason poll. The 2008 MAC Championship squad earned votes in three weeks of the season.

The Warriors are one of two MAC teams receiving votes in the poll along with Widener, who upset 15th-ranked Rowan in the first week of the season. The upset dropped Rowan from the polls and helped Widener rack up 44 votes this week, leaving them in the top others receiving votes slot.

The Warriors get back on the field on Saturday, Sept. 13, when they head to Albright for the Middle Atlantic Conference opener at 1 p.m.
