Bennett had a huge impact early in Widener’s 31-10 victory Saturday at Stevenson.  On the Pride’s first drive, he boomed a 44-yard punt that went out of bounds at the Mustangs’ seven yard line.  That led to sophomore Stacey Sunnerville (Freehold, NJ) sacking quarterback John Gasparovic in the end zone on the next play for a first-quarter safety and a 2-0 Widener lead.

Tanner Troutman makes big play after ejection reversed

Jr DB Tanner Troutman first of two interceptions
By MITCH RUPERT (mrupert@sungazette.com) , Williamsport Sun-Gazette
Williamsport, PA - Walking alongside an official, Tanner Troutman was led off the football field Saturday afternoon at the most critical of times of Lycoming's 19-16 win over Delaware Valley.

Troutman, the victim of a new penalty which requires the ejection of a player penalized for targeting the head of a defenseless receiver and preseason All-American safety, walked past Warriors head coach Mike Clark pleading his case with the officials.

Clark wasn't arguing the penalty. In fact he said he didn't see Troutman level Aggies receiver Rasheed Bailey to draw the flag. What Clark was talking to the officials about was to make certain Troutman should be ejected on the play, that he was without a doubt targeting the head of Bailey.

LVC wins to keep pace in MAC, defense shines

The Dutchmen won in their 1,000th game to stay in the hunt, beating Wilkes, 17-6.
Defense hasn't won a championship for the Lebanon Valley College football team just yet, and who knows if it actually will. But there's no denying that defense has put LVC in the position to win a title.

On Saturday afternoon on the road, the Flying Dutchmen used the occasion of the 1,000th game in their history to produced an utterly dominating defensive performance in a grinding 17-6 win at Wilkes.

The victory, which featured seven sacks and two interceptions from the LVC defense, sets up an honest-to-goodness first-place showdown with Middle Atlantic Conference leader Lycoming on Saturday in Annville as part of Valley's Oktoberfest Homecoming weekend.

Video: 2013 Lycoming Football - Craig Needhammer over 100 yards again against DelVal

Lycoming Jr RB Craig Needhammer is developing into a for for the Warrior offense. He just completed his 4th 100 plus yard game is good but when you consider he did it against the 24th and 21st team in the nation makes it outstanding. Humble, powerful, strong and elusive are just a few adjectives describing this junior running back.

2013 Lycoming Football - Mike Clark after DelVal Victory

Lycoming Football coach Mike Clark talks about his second win over a top 25 team in a row. Comments about Craig Needhammer, Corey Talerico, the kicking game, Tanner Troutman and the ejection and reversal, third quarter problems and much more.

2013 Lycoming Football - Tanner Troutman trackle and interception

Jr DB Tanner Troutman talks about being ejected for a flagrant tackle that would have put him out for the rest of the DelVal game and the Lebanon Valley. The referees had a conference and reversed the decision of one referee allowing Tanner to play but the 15 yard penalty was assessed. In the end, Troutman intercepted the ball to stop the DelVal drive, insuring Lycoming big win over No. 21 in the nation.
