ANNVILLE, Pa. - For the second time this season, junior linebacker Frank Gaffney has been named the Middle Atlantic Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

Gaffney, who previously earned the honor in Week 3, and was also named to the MAC weekly honor roll in Week 1. He shares this player of the week award with Lycoming's Tanner Troutman.

Gaffney had four sacks among a team-high 12 tackles to go with a blocked PAT to lead LVC's defense in a 17-6 win at Wilkes on Saturday. LVC allowed just 153 yards of offense, and Gaffney set the tone as three of his sacks came in the first half. His final hit secured the win for LVC on fourth down during Wilkes' final drive of the fourth quarter, and his blocked PAT came on the Colonels' lone touchdown during the second quarter, preserving a 7-6 lead for the Dutchmen. Seven of Gaffney's tackles were solo stops.

This season, Gaffney leads the MAC with 10 sacks and tops the LVC statistics with 40 tackles and 13.0 for a loss.

LVC (4-1, 3-1 MAC) will host Lycoming (4-1, 4-0 MAC) this Saturday on Oktoberfest Weekend with a chance to take a share of the lead in the MAC.
