WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – With a recruiting class that features four all-state selections and 44 members, the Lycoming College football team will combine its youth with 68 returning lettermen in an effort to step back into contention for a Middle Atlantic Conference title, 11th-year head coach Mike Clark announced on Monday, July 16.

The Warriors welcome two all-state players from Pennsylvania and two from New Jersey. Sophomore Mike Kalyan (Auburn, Pa./Schuylkill Haven) transfers in from the University of Mount Union, where he did not see action as a freshman. In 2016, though, the linebacker earned all-state accolades from both the Pennsylvania Football Writers and Pa. Football News. Linebacker Sam Pittsman (Archbald, Pa./Valley View) also joins the team after earning Second Team Pa. Football News all-state accolades as a senior.

From New Jersey, running back Chase Cramer (Andover, N.J./Newton) earned First Team All-Group 2 honors while leading Newton to its first state title in 99 years. Offensive lineman Kevin Carpenter (Sparta, N.J./Sparta) was a Second Team All-Group 3 pick.

The group features three more transfers in addition to Kalyan, including quarterback Chase Snavely (Middletown, Pa./Middletown Area), who joined the team in January after a semester at Lock Haven University. Snavely was an All-Eastern Pa. quarterback as a senior while leading Middletown to the state championship game in class 3A.

In total, the incoming class features seven quarterbacks, five running backs, five wide receivers and seven offensive linemen. On the defensive side, the team welcomes seven defensive backs, six linemen and seven linebackers.

The Warriors finished 4-6 overall and 4-5 in the MAC, tying for sixth, under 10th-year head coach Mike Clark. The team opens the 2018 season on Sept. 1, with a 1 p.m. game against Susquehanna University at David Person Field.
