WIDENER’S SETH KLEIN AND COLIN MASTERSON NAMED TO MAC FOOTBALL WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Annville, PA – Widener freshman quarterback Seth Klein (Wernersville, PA/Wilson West Lawn) was cited by the Middle Atlantic Conference for the third time this season and senior All-America safety Colin Masterson (Swarthmore, PA/Ridley) also was picked to the league’s weekly Honor Roll.

It is Klein’s second appearance on the honor roll this season and he also was tabbed the MAC Offensive Player of the Week on September 16.

Klein completed 21-of-27 passes for 249 yards and two scores in Widener’s 38-20 victory Saturday over Misericordia.  He entered the contest ranked third in the country in completion percentage and third in completions per contest of last week’s NCAA statistics.

Klein has not played like a freshman this season in leading the MAC with 275.3 yards passing per game, a .764 completion percentage, 178 completions and sitting second with nine touchdown passes.  He broke the school record with 40 completions in Widener’s victory September 14 over Lebanon Valley.

Masterson had 11 tackles, all solos, and once again controlled the secondary on Saturday.  This helped the defense allow just 133 yards passing.

A preseason All-America by two publications this season and listed as a “Player to Watch” by the DIII Senior Classic, Masterson is tied for 18th in the MAC with 6.7 tackles per game and tied for fourth with two interceptions.

Widener (4-2, 4-1 MAC), which was preseason ranked by three publications this year, is in a four-way tie for first place in the MAC.  It is third in the league with 399.2 yards per game and fifth with 26.7 points per contest.

Widener is home Saturday against FDU-Florham, starting at 1:00 pm.
