WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—Lycoming College's head football coach Mike Clark has announced that Steve Wiser will continue as the Warriors' assistant head coach/defensive coordinator. Wiser has coached at Lycoming for 34 years and has been the defensive coordinator for 30 years.

Wiser graduated from the College in 1974 and immediately joined legendary head coach Frank Girardi's coaching staff. In 1977, Wiser became the Warriors' defensive coordinator and, in 1983, he was named assistant head coach. Wiser has held both titles through the 2007 season.

Under Wiser's tutelage, Lycoming's defense has recorded 64 shutouts and has been ranked as the No. 1 defense in the Middle Atlantic Conference 15 times. In 1975 and 1983, the Warriors boasted the No. 1 total defense in the nation for Division III. Wiser has overseen three top-ranked Division III rushing defenses and a No. 1 national scoring defense. In all, Wiser's defenses have ranked in the NCAA Division III Top-10 in total defense 12 times.

Wiser is a member of the Lycoming College Sports Hall of Fame for his accomplishments as a football player and wrestler. He was a four-year starter in both sports and was All-MAC in his junior and senior seasons.

"I am extremely excited to have Steve as our Assistant Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator," said Clark. "He's not only the most qualified coach - he is the best person for job."
