WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – With another disruptive performance from the 5-10, 184-pound freshman, defensive tackle David Tomb (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore Area) has earned a spot on the Team of the Week, the website announced on Tuesday morning, Oct. 29.

Tomb posted four tackles, two for a loss, to go with a sack and a blocked punt against FDU-Florham, helping the Warriors to a 42-21 win. Tomb’s blocked punt on FDU-Florham’s second possession helped set up Lycoming’s second touchdown, as it took control of the game.

Tomb began the season as a member of the team’s special teams unit, but he has quickly become a key part of the defensive unit, rising into the two-deep and posting 11 tackles, three for loss and two sacks in the past two games. For the season, Tomb has 3.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, a forced fumble and 21 tackles.

Tomb was the 2018 Sun-Gazette Player and Defensive Lineman of the Year at Jersey Shore Area High School. A two-time all-state lineman, he finished third amongst the state’s linemen with 118 tackles in 2019, adding eight sacks and 20 tackles for loss.

He is the first Warrior to earn Team of the Week honors since Jamie Fisher (Folsom, Pa./Ridley) and Ahmad Curtis (Effort, Pa./Pleasant Valley) each earned the accolades on Sept. 11, 2018.

The Warriors get back on the field on Saturday, Nov. 2, when they host Misericordia in another MAC Commonwealth game at 1 p.m.
