Sr RB Sam Dressler after his 36 yard touchdown run against Misericordia in 2017. |
Enter 2017 and Lycoming bounced back with a 17 point margin of victory. In that game, Lycoming led after the first quarter 7-3 on a 5 yard run by Dante Gibson. Half way through the second half, Gibson scored again on a 6 yard pass reception from QB Collin Wright to extend the lead by 10 points. The Warriors dominated the third quarter with three touchdowns. Passes to Brock Zollicoffer and a 36 yard run by Sam Dressler set up the third one yard QB sneak by Wright for a 35-7 lead.
Misericordia scored two touchdowns in the 4th quarter but the Warriors prevailed 35-17.
I think the Cougars have played well this season, but in my opinion, the 8-1 record is not against the strongest schedule since they did not play Stevenson or Delaware Valley. However, after saying that, they beat an always tough King's team 41-23. That was pretty impressive. And defeating Widener is a good win for them. I expect this game to be close, but I really feel the Warriors will prevail Saturday.
