Lycoming Football - Fisher, Curtis earn slots on D3football Team of the Week

#95 Sr DL Ahmad Curtis (Effort, Pa./Pleasant Valley)
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Accolades have continued to roll in after the Lycoming College football team defeated Widener University for the first time in four years on Saturday, Sept. 8, as a pair of Warriors – senior Ahmad Curtis (Effort, Pa./Pleasant Valley) and junior Jamie Fisher (Folsom, Pa./Ridley) – earned D3football.com Team of the Week honors, the website announced on Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 11.

The pair are the first players to earn a slot on the D3football.com Team of the Week since Mike Ward (safety) and Brandon Miller (punter) earned the honors on Oct. 4, 2016.

The centerpiece of a Lycoming football defensive line that held an opponent to less than 50 yards rushing for the first time since 2014, Curtis posted six tackles in Lycoming's 33-19 win over Widener, including posting a sack on the last play of the first half and 1.5 tackles for loss. Curtis was a part of a ferocious line that allowed just 193 yards of total offense and 11 first downs in the game.

Curtis is the first defensive tackle to earn a spot on the team since Dwight Hentz on Nov. 9, 2013.

#35 Jr K Jamie Fisher (Folsom, Pa./Ridley)
Fisher became the first Warrior to kick four field goals in a game at Widener in a non-conference matchup. Fisher connected from 39 and 26 yards in the second quarter, 43 yards in the third quarter and 23 yards in the fourth quarter. The senior was also 3-for-3 on points-after-touchdowns (PATs) to give him 15 points, which tied a school record set in 1985 by Rusty Fricke. Fisher also had eight kickoffs for an average of 59.2 yards and one touchback.

Fisher is the first Warrior kicker to earn a spot on the Team of the Week, dating back to the team’s start in 1999.

The Warriors are back in action on Saturday, Sept. 15, when they host Lebanon Valley College at 1 p.m. in their MAC opener at David Person Field.
