MACfb News - Widener Football Voted Fourth in MAC Preseason Coaches Poll

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Widener University football team has been selected to finish fourth in the Middle Atlantic Conference in the preseason coaches' poll as voted on by the 10 head coaches in the league and announced by the conference on Monday. The Pride garnered 55 points in the poll.


The top three teams in the preseason poll were separated by just three points as Delaware Valley received 75 points and five first place votes. Stevenson and Albright each garnered 72 points, pulling in three and two first place votes respectively. With 47 points, King's rounded out the top half of the league.

Lycoming was sixth with 38 points followed by Lebanon Valley with 33. Wilkes (27 points), FDU-Florham (19 points), and Misercordia (12 points) rounded out the poll.

Mike Kelly enters his fourth season as the head coach of the Pride, compiling a 24-9 record. After a road game at Rowan on Sept. 2, Widener opens its home schedule and MAC slate on Saturday, Sept. 9, taking on FDU-Florham at Leslie C. Quick Jr Stadium.
