WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Lycoming College senior linebacker Kabongo Bukasa (Sharon Hill, Pa./Academy Park) picked up his third Preseason All-American honors, as the 2012 Middle Atlantic Conference Defensive Player of the Year was named to the Collegiate Development Football League (CDFL) North squad’s Second Team, the CDFL announced on Tuesday, Sept. 3.

Bukasa was also named to the first team of the Beyond Sports Network Preseason All-American team and the second team of USA College Football’s.

Bukasa, a d3Football.com Third Team All-East Region pick and a First Team All-MAC selection, led the Warriors and finished seventh in the league with 7.8 tackles and 0.33 interceptions per game, the only player in the top 10 in both categories. Leading the team with 70 tackles, Bukasa had five or more tackles in each of his first eight games.

Versatile and fast, Bukasa had the ability to make plays behind the line of scrimmage and 10-yards downfield. He also performed in big games, posting two interceptions and a fumble recovery against nationally-ranked Widener, helping him earn the MAC Defensive Player of the Week award.

The Warriors begin the 2013 campaign in Rochester, N.Y., against Brockport on Saturday, Sept. 7, at 1 p.m.
