WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – For the sixth straight year, at least two Lycoming College football players have earned Academic All-Middle Atlantic Conference honors, with junior offensive lineman Cody Botts (Millmont, Pa./Mifflinburg) and senior linebacker Dominic Loffredo (Linden, Pa./Jersey Shore Area) each earning a slot on the team, the conference office in Annville, Pa., announced on Thursday, Jan. 24.

Botts has started 20 straight games for the Warrior as a left tackle, helping lead the team to a 5-6 season and a berth in the Centennial-MAC Bowl Series this year after finishing tied for fourth in the conference. Botts helped a Lycoming offense that crossed 300 yards of total offense four times, including a season-best 517 against Alvernia. The Warriors threw for more than 200 yards four times, more than 300 yards twice, and have rushed for more than 100 yards five times. The history major has made three straight appearances on the MAC Academic Honor Roll and two straight appearances on the Google Cloud CoSIDA Academic All-District Team.

Loffredo came back from an injury that kept him from the gridiron in 2017 to finish fifth on the team with 48 tackles as a linebacker. Loffredo appeared in all 11 games and started three, making 23 unassisted and three for loss. He forced and recovered a fumble in a win over FDU-Florham, made a career-high 11 tackles in the win over Misericordia and had a half-sack against Wilkes. Loffredo has earned two mentions as a member of the MAC Academic Honor Roll as a dual major in business administration and corporate communication.

The Academic All-MAC teams recognize the top student-athletes both in the classroom and on the field during the sport’s championship semester. The MAC sports information directors nominate and vote on the Academic All-MAC teams, giving 50 percent weight on both academic success and athletic success.

Lycoming finished 2018 with a 5-6 record under 11th-year head coach Mike Clark, posting a 4-4 record in Middle Atlantic Conference action to post a tie for fourth. The Warriors reached the postseason for the first time since 2008, as it competed in the Centennial-MAC Bowl Series.
