Junior Chase Whiteman (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) finished 11-of-19 for 122 yards and two interceptions and freshman Collin Wright(Secane, Pa./Ridley) went 3-for-5 for 25 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Meanwhile, Stevenson's Farrah went 13-of-22 with no turnovers to lead the Mustangs (2-0 overall, 1-0 MAC) to their first win over the Warriors (0-2 overall, 0-1 MAC) in program history.
Lycoming picked up 19 first downs and 291 yards of total offense while holding the ball for 31:50, but Stevenson was able to accumulate 409 yards and score three touchdowns on passes of more than 40 yards.
Senior Ryan Umpleby (Forest Hill, Md./Fallston) finished with seven catches for 86 yards and a score, as he was one of five Warriors to make a reception in the game.
The Warriors got on the board on their first drive of the game, again thanks to junior Blake Bowman (Valley View, Pa./Tri-Valley), as he keyed the 14-play, 83-yard drive with seven rushes for 15 yards, while junior Chase Whiteman(Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) completed all six of his passes for 68 yards. He completed the biggest play of the drive on a 3-and-5 from the 33, stepping out of a sack and completing a screen to Bowman, who ran it to the two-yard line before diving in on the next play to make it 7-0 with 8:16 left in the first quarter.
After a short four-play drive, the Warriors got the ball back, but Whiteman was intercepted on the drive by Antonio Johnson and Johnson ran it back 57 yards for a touchdown to tie the game with 2:42 left in the quarter. The Mustangs scored on their next possession as well, as Jeff Farrah found Neil Harps for a 66-yard score on the second play of the drive to make it 13-7 with 14 seconds left.
Stevenson kept rolling in the second quarter, scoring with a six-play, 51-yard drive, with Farrah finding Harps for a 13-yard score with 7:28 left. On their next drive, Farrah found Seth Jordan for a 50-yard score with 3:52 left, making it 28-7. Farrah hooked up with Jordan for a 49-yard touchdown with 7:41 left in the third quarter and midway through the fourth, Tim Sternfield wrapped up a run of 38 straight points by hitting a 21-yard field goal.
The Warriors scored quickly late in the fourth quarter, with Umpleby scoring on a 17-yard reception from Wright with 1:37 left. The reception capped a four-play, 50-yard drive.
Umpleby finished the game with 118 all-purpose yards and his seven receptions tied Dave Bodmer (1988-91) for fifth in school history with 121.
The defense was led by eight tackles, 3.5 for loss, and 1.5 sacks by senior Josh Cook (Hatfield, Pa./North Penn). Freshman D.J. Boyd (Seat Pleasant, Md./Fairmount Heights) and sophomore Mike Ward (Edgewater, Md./South River) each added five stops, with Boyd breaking up one pass and Ward two.
Kiandre Burrell finished with 22 carries for 69 yards and Jordan led the Mustangs with four catches for 135 yards and two touchdowns. Harps added three catches for 89 yards and two touchdowns.
Brady Kempa led the Stevenson defense with 10 tackles and a fumble recovery and Razonte Dunn added 10 stops. Antonio Johnson had nine tackles, two interceptions and a touchdown and Cory Pietrzyk finished with seven tackles, two forced fumbles and two sacks. Austin Meyers also had two sacks and Billy Lewis posted an interception.
The Warriors get back on the field on Saturday, Sept. 19, when they host Wilkes at David Person Field at 1:30 p.m. as part of Family Weekend at Lycoming College.
