Warriors Defense Shines as Lycoming Overcomes Wilkes Colonels, 27-14

EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. – As the fourth quarter began, Wilkes made a stop on fourth-and-one to get the ball at the Lycoming 41 and they drove down to the 20-yard line, but a sack helped Lycoming get the ball back and a 78-yard drive later, the No. 22 Lycoming College football team withstand a threat from Wilkes University before posting a 27-14 Middle Atlantic Conference win at Ralston Field on a beautiful, Saturday, Sept. 26.

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Junior Cole Welham (Lewistown, Pa./Lewistown Area) picked up another honor for his stellar effort against King’s, earning a slot on the D3football.com Team of the Week, the website announced on Thursday, Sept. 25.

Lycoming's Craig Needhammer set to break running back records.

"If you want it bad enough, you can overcome any barrier."

With 35 career touchdowns scored (32 rushing, three receiving), senior Craig Needhammer is tied for the school record with by Tim Dumas (1996-99). So Craig is set to be the all time running back hitting pay dirt in Warriors history. Of course, many have said he is too small, not rugged enough. This is a statement for "If you want it bad enough, you can overcome any barrier." Football does resemble life lessons.

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Junior Cole Welham (Lewistown, Pa./Lewistown Area) helped the Lycoming College football team to another solid defensive performance that included five sacks and 11 tackles for loss in a 28-13 win over King’s, helping Welham earn his first career Middle Atlantic Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors, the conference office in Annville, Pa., announced on Sunday, Sept. 21.

Senior Tyler Jenny (Glasgow, Pa./Glendale) was brilliant, as he crossed 200 yards for the third straight week, completing 19-of-27 passing for 253 yards and two touchdowns, as he dropped passes to a career-high 10 receivers. He was not sacked for the second time in three games.
