Bukasa set to suit up in DIII Senior Classic

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Lycoming College senior linebacker Kabongo Bukasa(Sharon Hill, Pa./Academy Park) has accepted an invitation to play in the DIII Senior Classic on Friday, Dec. 13, at 7 p.m. in Salem, Va.

Bukasa will play on the South team in the North vs. South format game. The game, begun in 2009, brings together some of Division III’s best talent each December to compete in the all-star game.

A three-time All-Middle Atlantic Conference honoree, Bukasa earned second-team accolades for the second time as a senior. A Beyond Sports Network Preseason All-American, Bukasa finished with 52 tackles, making at least four stops in all nine games he played in despite dealing with a leg injury all season.
The 2012 MAC Defensive Player of the Year added 4.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks on the season, plus notched one interception and added one pass breakup. He also reached 200 career tackles during the season.

As a junior, Bukasa was a d3Football.com Third Team All-East Region pick and a First Team All-MAC selection. He led the Warriors and finished seventh in the league with 7.8 tackles and 0.33 interceptions per game, the only player in the top 10 in both categories. Leading the team with 70 tackles, Bukasa had five or more tackles in each of his first eight games. The converted safety notched two MAC Defensive Player of the Week awards during his career.

As a sophomore, he earned Second Team All-MAC honors in his first year as a middle linebacker. He finished with 58 tackles, including 11 stops and a 65-yard interception return for a touchdown against Albright.

The Warriors finished 7-3 overall and 7-2 in the MAC under sixth-year head coach Mike Clark. The team claimed a share of the 15th MAC title in school history, tying for first with Lebanon Valley.
