Bukasa earns First Team Preseason All-American nod

#20 Sr LB Kabongo Bukasa
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – After earning Second Team All-American honors from the Beyond Sports College Network in 2012, senior linebacker Kabongo Bukasa (Sharon Hill, Pa./Academy Park) has earned First Team Preseason All-American honors from the organization to kick off his final year with the Blue & Gold, the website announced on Thursday, June 20.

Bukasa is the second Warrior to earn BSCN Preseason All-American honors, joining kicker Zack Czap (Philipsburg, Pa./Philipsburg-Oscelola), who was an honorable mention selection in 2012.

Bukasa, a d3Football.com Third Team All-East Region pick and a First Team All-MAC selection, led the Warriors and finished seventh in the league with 7.8 tackles and 0.33 interceptions per game, the only player in the top 10 in both categories. Leading the team with 70 tackles, Bukasa had five or more tackles in each of his first eight games.

Versatile and fast, Bukasa had the ability to make plays behind the line of scrimmage and 10-yards downfield. He also performed in big games, posting two interceptions and a fumble recovery against nationally-ranked Widener, helping him earn the MAC Defensive Player of the Week award.

The Warriors finished 8-2 overall and 8-1 in the MAC to finish second in the league under fifth-year head coach Mike Clark in 2012.

The team begins its 2013 campaign at Brockport on Saturday, Sept. 7, at 1 p.m.
