Lycoming Football Warriors announce incoming football class

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – With a recruiting class that features six all-state selections, three transfers and 55 members, the Lycoming College football team has reloaded for the 2015 season after losing 14 starters to graduation, eighth-year head coach Mike Clark announced on Friday, July 10.


The Warriors will welcome a contingent of four all-state players from Lycoming County. Linebacker Dom Loffredo (Linden, Pa./Jersey Shore Area) was a Pennsylvania Football Writers Class AAA all-state selection, while Pennsylvania Football News tabbed him as honorable mention. Defensive lineman Wyatt Entz (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville Area) earned Class AA honorable mention all-state status as an athlete from PFN. In Class A, both linebacker John Peters (South Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport) and wide receiver Riley Thomas (South Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport) were tabbed all-state by the football writers. Peters was also a PFN second-team pick while Thomas earned honorable mention status.

Linebacker Duane Boone (Tyrone, Pa./Tyrone Area) was also tabbed Class AA all-state by the football writers and he was listed as a second-team selection by PFN. In New Jersey, fullback Andrew Beamer(Mickleton, N.J./Kingsway Regional) was a Third Team All-Group 4 selection.

In total, the incoming class features two quarterbacks, two running backs, two fullbacks, three tight ends, 10 wide receivers and seven offensive linemen. On the defensive side, the team welcomes eight defensive backs, 10  linemen and eight linebackers. In addition, the team also welcomes two kickers and three punters.

The Warriors finished 8-2 and in third place in the Middle Atlantic Conference in 2014, the program’s fifth straight winning season. The team was paced by 13 All-MAC performers, including Capital One Academic All-American running back Craig Needhammer ’15 (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) and senior D3football.com All-East Region wide receiver Ryan Umpleby (Forest Hill, Md./Fallston).

The Warriors open the 2015 season on Saturday, Sept. 5, when they head to rival Susquehanna University for the Stagg Hat Trophy game at 1 p.m.
