Middle Atlantic Conference Week 1 Players of the Week

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Middle Atlantic Conference has released the 2013 season's first Football Players of the Week. These student-athletes are being recognized for the efforts ending on 9/7/2013. This Week's honorees features Misericordia quarterback Jeff Puckett who becomes Misericordia's first ever football Player of the Week award winner as the Cougars kicked off the start of their second ever season.

Co Offensive Players of the Week:  Jeff Puckett (Misericordia) and Aaron Wilmer (Delaware Valley)

Jeff Puckett ran for a school-record 301 yards and five touchdowns and passed for another TD in a 62-40 loss to Gettysburg as Misericordia opened its second season of football.  Averaged 8.4 yards per carry and had a long run of 54 yards and converted two fourth-and-one runs to keep scoring drives alive.  Puckett also went 4-7 for 53 yards and another touchdown through the air.
Aaron Wilmer threw both his touchdowns and ran for a score as part of a 28-point fourth quarter comeback as the Aggies rallied from a 27-7 deficit to defeat 2012 NCAA qualifier Rowan University. Wilmer finished the day with 304 yards of total offense (260 passing, 44 rushing) and also caught a 38-yard pass that helped set up the go-ahead score. 

Defensive Player of the Week:  Drew Peterson (Albright)

Drew Peterson intercepted two passes in a 30-14 victory over Kean, his third career multi-interception game.  Peterson led the Albright defense that held Kean to 22 yards of total offense and 0 points in the first half.

Special Teams Player of the Week:  Daniel Sobolewski (Albright)

Daniel Sobolewski made 3-of-4 field goals on the evening connecting on tries from 40, 34 and 27 yard.  His only miss was from 48 yards, which would have set a school record.  Sobolewski recorded one touchback and put five of his seven kickoffs into the end zone.

Honor Roll:  Anthony Davis (Widener), Frank Gaffney (Lebanon Valley) and Brandon Harper (Widener)

Anthony Davis closed with 149 kickoff return yards on four attempts, including a 60-yard return, in Widener's opener at No. 3 Wesley.

Frank Gaffney racked up two batted passes, a sack, and five solo tackles to lead LVC's defense in a 15-14 win over Montclair State. Nearly all of Gaffney's plays came in key spots in the second half, with five third or fourth stops by tackle or break-up.

Brandon Harper recorded 12 tackles, seven solos and a forced fumble in Widener's season opener at third-ranked Wesley.
