Lycoming Wide Receiver Matt Atkinson worth watching

Senior Wide Receiver Matt Atkinson scores one of two touchdowns against Wilkes
Williamsport, PA - Lycoming has a great set of wide receivers this year, maybe the best group thrown together in recent memory. Senior Matt Atkinson, one of the trio, will be worth watching against Misercordia this Saturday which is a 1:30 start due to family weekend.

During the Brockport game two weeks ago, Atkinson was on the receiving end of QB Tyler Jenny's passes nine times for 79 total yards. He accounted for half the receptions and passing yards for the Warriors. In the Wilkes game, Atkinson scored two of the five touchdowns with six catches for 91 yards. He also has a 30 yard completion in the game. After two games Matt is averaging 11 yards per reception.

Matt has surely matured as a senior receiver, but he has some good credentials over his career for the Warriors. In 2012, even with injuries during the season, he played in eight games and averaged 12 yards per reception and was a big influence in the Widener game. Matt was also an option QB for the Warriors mixing up the offensive look with good results.

As a sophomore, Atkinson was awarded the teams most improved offensive player and for good reason. In ten games, he rushed for 219 yards in 28 attempts, scoring one rushing touchdown and posted 26 receptions, netting 269 yards and four receiving touchdowns.

Matt runs like a gazelle, has a great ability of finding an open seem in the defense. He seems to be Jenny's favorite receiver so far this season. One thing I like about Atkinson is that after the catch he can pick up more yards thus extending the play. And he has sure hands, able to pull in the short bullet pass and maneuver throw traffic.

So keep your eye on Lycoming's senior wide receiver No. 4 Matt Atkinson. He is prime to have a career day and it just might be this Saturday against Misericordia.
