Lycoming set to announce new athletic brand on Aug. 13

Old Indian Logo
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – After more than a year in development, the Lycoming College athletic department will proudly present the third set of athletic marks in the history of the program during an unveiling in Burchfield Lounge in the Wertz Student Center on Tuesday, Aug. 13 at 12 p.m. Shortly after the event at Burchfield Lounge, the logos will be released onathletics.lycoming.edu.

Members of the college and Williamsport community are welcome and encouraged to attend the unveiling.

The new athletic marks were designed by the Joe Bosack Graphic Design Co., which has also done logos for several professional (NHL’s Colorado Avalanche and AHL’s Hershey Bears) and collegiate (Akron, Bucknell, Manhattanville and Mississippi State) teams.

Current Logo being replaced
The new set of marks will replace the “Block L” logo, which has been in use since 2005. Prior to that, the college used an “Indian Head” mark for nearly 50 years, but chose to change the logo due to NCAA legislation that banned the use of American Indian mascots by sports teams during its postseason tournaments.
